I prayed god to get my GC before 2008.If God really exists I'll get my GC in 2008.If not it's a proof that God doesn't exists.
I'll have to wait for few more hours to prove.

DA knows that for them to win the case, they need your wife's statement on their side. And for you to win the case your wife will have to testify under oath. The attorneys are prepared on both sides to argue this case and examine and cross examine the case. Make sure you have a really really good attorney.
I hope you are telling the truth. If not why she didnt tell the police or you didnt tell police the real reason. Now the onus is on your wife to contact the police and DA and let them know the truth.

This is not 100% relevant to this thread but since we are discussing APs here, I thought I will ask the question.
Do we need AP to go to / come back from US Virgin Islands? I know that these islands are U.S. territories and should be nothing more than going from one U.S. state to another. The reason for my question is that the DOS website states that for travelling to USVI, the U.S. citizens should carry a Photo Id AND Birth Certificate to establish the U.S. citizenship. Many websites state the same thing and some sites mention that this is because of nearby British Virgin Islands. As you can just take a ferry and come from British islands to U.S. Islands, the Immigration authorities on Mainland need to check your immigration status. This is not the case for travel to Hawaii or Puerto Rico.
Does anyone know for sure or have personal experience visitng the USVI?

This hits the nail on the head. We need to do a reality check on our side as well. I have been extremely embarassed by my fellow desis stinking to the core and digging their noses in meetings.
I've also had the extreme embarassment of being asked by a fellow non-Indian colleague as to why most 'male' desis didn't believe in taking a shower and washing their clothes.
Another point raised was why some ladies wore anklets in the office. The sound of anklets does bother me too since it truly distracts one's attention. I understand there is a cultural tradition involved here but we need to assimilate as much as possible especially in the work environment.
Sometimes, unfortunately such things take away the attention from our real skills which are our brains and smart work.
We need to maintain proper hygiene and courtesy everywhere, even at home.

I have 3 yrs degree + 1 yr PG diploma. I have been working in industry for past 17 years, and don't think any degree or even doctorate would add much to my qualification for the job that I am doing.

I think with 17 years of Experience you can easily be filed in EB2. You need better Education evaluation certificate.
Try talk to these guys and see.......they are wonderfull and best i know.

I liked permfilings idea about a mass day off from work...and a small meetup in each town..however this has to be publicised that its going to happen...I guess this should be the first symbolic thing..the next thing..i really loved the sweeping streets idea...we shud do this in front of capitol hill...much better if we all wear suits and carry brooms to brush the dirt off..and have posters that say..PLEASE BRUSH THE DUST OFF - OF MY GREENCARD APPLICATION AND PROCESS IT....

One intelligent posting amidst the cacophony. Keep it up. Sometime back one of the admin wrote about tightening the belt, holding on to ride this wave of market trouble. I wonder whether someone knowledgeable could create a thread (or add to one that exists) about this mess, mechanisms that led to it and how it is going to affect the slaves, pintos and the rest (of iV) in the next 12 months? An intelligent discussion for a change. You have to understand derivatives and structured investment vehicles to understand what the economy is facing. The risk of sub prime CDO's has been spread thorough out the credit markets. Just imagine Bear Stearns which has a head quarters building in NYC worth $1 billion was sold for $236 Mil. Yankees pay A-Rod more than that. This will tell you how the valuation of derivatives has depleted cash flow and liquidity of a wall street titan which had stood through the great depression, 2 world wars, market crashes in the 1970's, 87, 01 and recessions in between.
Google "Long term Capital management (LTCM)" and study their history you will see what derivatives are capable of. Warren buffet calls derivatives "Financial instruments of mass destruction".
So the man is faced with such a mess, don’t insult his intelligence by making unwarranted statements.

My I485 is still pending (> 180 days filed on July27th '07). I have my renewed EAD valid for the next 2 years. I have been out of project for 4 months and my employer , who filed my GC, terminated my health coverage too. Iam using my COBRA option.
Recently, i have applied for a perm position using EAD . I explained to the client about by current status of GC. They wanted to know what they are supposed to do for it. I told them i need to 'invoke' a law called AC21.(pardon my ignorance if iam wrong) inorder to transfer my pending application.
Now the big question is, how do i initiate this whole process?
I really apreaciate all your suggestions.
