What's the difference anyway (besides of the brand)?
Is one faster? more silent? more durable?
Seagate has gone down in the last couple of years in terms of build quality and reliability. I have had nothing but good things to say about Western Digital drives.
The current iMac 27" I have (the 3rd one I've received from Apple,) was fitted with a Seagate drive. I regret not keeping the first iMac I received with the cracked glass, as that had a Western Digital drive in it. The WD drive was much quieter. Performance is probably a wash, but I'll take the silence anyday, short of putting a Green/5x00rpm drive inside.
I know the 2TB WD Caviar Blacks are fairly loud, but my new one is staying with a 1TB drive. Hope I get the WD.

I was actually thinking of waiting until I could get 8GB and SandyBridge (iX) processors. ;) But the fact they'll have to be ULV will still make their performance lower than the MBPs.
A MBA with SandyBridge and 8GB of ram would be a really nice machine

At this point im just frustrated. I changed the host file with this ip 74.208.105.171 gs.apple.com Then I followed all the steps and got 4.2.1 on. When I went to jailbreak, I got it into DFU mode but the jailbreak failed. Now I just want to update to 4.3 but I cant because I dont remember what I changed and replace with this 74.208.105.171 gs.apple.com. Anybody know the original text so I can update to 4.3?

At this time I'd go for the top of the line iMac 27".

Lowest - Concierge
2nd Lowest - hourly sales rep(paid low.. like 10 or 9 an hour)
Middle - Product Specialist
The highest being Genius at almost 20 dollars an hour...
The ABSOLUTE HIGHEST - General Manager of the retail store.. and of course the top is: DISTRICT MANAGER.
It's funny how incorrect that is.

Thanks for the tip about PhoneGap.
The part I'm least confident about is the networking (mobile devices connecting to the Mac without any of them having Internet access). I'm not a networking expert so I'm unclear what I need to do.

One is a desktop, the other is an ultraportable.
If you need a portable computer, get the Air. If not, the iMac is a far better value. It's pretty simple.:o

posting a copy of that might help (or the part you are worried about i guess to keep it short). easier to read and research than guess and give you a wrong answer.
the two copies of X are fine. i have several copies/versions in my MP with no issue. and one more on an external firewire drive actually come to think of it...

Actually, the term ISO is just short for the organization that provides standards on film speed (and before it was ISO, it was ASA.) I don't see what value trying to rename it has- you still have to know what that is, and how it applies, and since you can assign that information to the term ISO and not break every photographic instruction ever made or make the remaining film cameras suddenly "different" than digital, I don't see a big gain (pun intended) in going from a three letter abbreviation to a word.

Yeah, agreed... Although, as you point out, it wasn't even a useful term in the first place.
At least the eject button for my CF card is not called "Rewind". :p
Maybe you need to get out (from this forum) more?

enjoy... ;)
LOL! You could have at least linked me to something fun! :D :p

I would recommend a "Sold" prefix and a "Rescinded" prefix for the marketplace.
It's nice to be able to just mark as sold (and undo it in case someone backs out in the last minute). Rescinding happens too (since sometimes the market price isn't what you expect it to be or you changed you mind).
Thanks. We took your suggestion.

Is this going to be your first DSLR?
I think if you really want that lens and no other will do, see if your parents are able to stretch to the brand new kit.
But you're looking at a really capable body though, if it was me, I'd get it with a kit lens like the regular 18-55 and a copy of Aperture (if you have a Mac, I'm saying Aperture because you could probably keep those parts all down below 500).
The lenses should last you for decades as long as you keep them cared for and you don't need to have the exact lens you want straight off. You'll be able to save for a new lens or ask family if they could perhaps chip in for it later.
Also, just because you're getting Nikon, doesn't mean you have to be restricted to their lenses, you can get Tamron and Sigma lenses for good prices too.
Thanks for that. Yes it's going to be my first SLR. Parents are willing to stretch to whatever as I never ask for much usually anyways and I'm the kind of person who would prefer to save the money and buy things myself etc.
I know about Tamron and Sigma lens too, I've been looking at those as well. I wasn't sure if 18-55 would be enough and that I might need a new lens in the near future. I forgot to mention, I'm also going on Holiday visiting Hong Kong, China area and before going I'll be playing around with the camera to make sure by the time I go on holiday I'll get the best shots etc.
I'm not sure what Aperture is, as I don't have a Mac is it a photo editing software if so I'm pretty good on photoshop and I'm not expecting to edit my photo too much using those programs as I prefer to take the picture and show it off as it is.

I done the switch to SSD last night in the Mac Mini. I used the Intel X25-M SATA 80GB SSD and used Carbon Copy Cloner to Clone the New and old drives.

get ready to wait awhile. I ordered a 27 imac the day they were available. shipping time is jun 15th arrive jun 22nd.
I see the big delay if the SSD option is ordered. In the meantime the 2010 i7 works well. I wonder why such a delay for SSD

My brother-in-law pre-ordered online for he and his sister. We are going to the store around 4pm Friday (after work, travel, etc..). If the phones are there, they're there. If they're not, they're not. I'm on the fence of whether or not I want to go with the 3Gs, but the two of them are dead set on it. i am more interested in checking out the new MBAs while I am there, and quizzing the staff to see if any of them have a clue about the 1.5G/s SATA issue on the MBPs :D

I don't know; at the 1st installation (10.3 + 10.3.7 combo + 10.3.8 patch + applications), everything was working untill I red my emails and tried to save as .pdf and try to print a popup of this web page; http://store.dxo.com/login.asp?LID=2.
For the 2nd installation, I did (10.3 + 10.3.7 combo + 10.3.8 patch) but in safe boot mode. So I don't know...
Now I'm still working in safe boot mode.
