My six year term of H-1B ends on 15th Nov 2011. My present employer is filling my I-140 ( as I am paying all the expenses) and the lawyer tells me that she will be able to file in 30 days in EB-2 ctaegory. However , now my job does not look very secure and I am afraid I might be laid off while my I-140 is pending. Thats why I am considering filing under premium processing by paying money out of my pocket.
My reasoning behind this is:
1) If laid off, with an approved I-140, I can apply for 3 year extension on a new H-1B with another employer and then work towards capturing my PD when time permits.
I realize I might have to go to H-4 to avoid getting out of satus while I am looking for new employer. Can anyone please guide if I have my bases covered or if there is a flaw in my reasoning. Should I go for premium processing or not.

I have a question regarding where to file my EAD renewal application. I am a July filer NJ resident and my I-485/EAD/AP were sent to Nebraska and got the AP/EAD approved through Nebraska going by my LIN no. As per the (C)(9) rules it says NJ residents should file to Texas service center and somewhere else I read that my EAD renewal application should be sent to the location where my I-485 is getting processed.
Please share your experiences.

EB-3-I is stuck in 01...not likely to move till Oct and then in OCT08..it will move by couple three months for the next 12 months till OCT 09..What are the option for EB-3 stuck here..from 01, 02, 03 ....
1) Convert to EB-2 ?.
2) wait for legislation from Logfren to pass
3) wait another 3 years...already in the Queue from 01..
If I choose to convert to EB-2..I have to put in a PERM and then I-140..what is the time line for getting my LC thro PERM and then my I-140 in EB2 cleared?? based on the current processing times..
Do I wait to see if Logfren's legislation goes thro ..if doesnt go with the conversion to EB-2...???
Please help me decide...

In Dubai when you come back you have to show your AP and supporting docs if they ask you to. I came back this July 18th.
I had absolutely no problems, it's all smooth as long as you carry all the supporting docs. I did have a shitty experience at JFK -- there are few morons at the POE you can't do much about.
What are the supporting docs along with AP? I will be travelling by Emirates via Dubai in Novemeber.

I cam through Fankfort in last dec using AP. No worries.
Anyone travelled recently through Germany (Frankfurt) using Advance Parole? Any issues with Advance Parole while coming back to US? Do we need transit visa? Appreciate your response.

It is only either Nebraska or Texas now. No other centers process I-140. For Texas center, it is appx 1 to 3 months. But for Nebraska, it is anytime from 6 - 9 months.
filed through Nebraska Center. Receipt Date July 06, just heard from them 2 weeks ago - with an RFE!! I wonder how much longer its gonna taqke now...

DMV stopped issuing DL based on EAD card in Virginia. I guess it will be same for TX and other states. You need original I485 receipt to get one year extensiton. EAD no more valid document for extension.

Oh my God. This is too much. I cant believe it that these desi blood suckers employers can go to that level. This is height of explotation that person even does not know that when exactly his labor and I140 got applied.
