Looks like your drive may be failing.. I had this same problem with a 500gb Western Digital external hard drive about a year ago. It just didn't mount all of the sudden and then quit working all-together. You still should try to reformat the drive to see if that fixes the problem though.
If you need any of the files on the external drive you are going to have to use a utility such as Data Rescue 3 or something similar and then try to reformat the drive. If not, go ahead and click erase and try to reformat it and see if it works.

seriously? apple has kept a pretty light lid on the ipad 2 besides a ton of internet rumors. so how would anyone know anything about jailbreaking it at this point!?

macbook air. may sound stupid, but as mentioned before we've gotten used to names and branding before as they make big marketing pushes.
with the air part, does nike air sound stupid? nike air max? nike air jordan? nike air (insert almost any name here)? i think there is a legitimate possibility for an apple product named with air in it

i totally agree! those 79 $ were probably the most well spent 79$ i've ever spent..! (at least for a mouse! ;) )

Considering that IE6 is being promoted by Microsoft to die I really wouldn't worry about making it compatible, unless your audience is from South Korea where 24% are still using IE6 :p

I have 3 23" apple (new) monitors (office, home, 2nd home). They are great, i ordred them as soon as i could and i am very happy with them. In my office i use it with my XP desktop and its wonderfull.

There are so many threads on this general topic, that, ugh, please just search for them? But on the specific issue of TBE not working on your Mac, what do you mean? This sounds abnormal. I use FF and love it on my Mac. And I have TBE, and it works fine. The only thing that's flaky for me in TBE is closing FF and re-starting and having tabs resurrected on restart. That has never worked properly for me on PC or Mac. But TBE behaves the same for me on both OSes.
OTOH, I definitely do agree that a number of themes behave strangely on FF/Mac. Try Safarish -- http://www.aroussi.com/article/11/firefox-osx-safari-look -- if you like the way Safari *looks*. NOIA Xtreme worked pretty well for me on my Mac too.

Designers can get overly focused in on fonts. I know, because I was once. I have spent waaay too many hours searching through font libraries, trying to find the perfect typeface for this project or that. All the while creating crappy design because I wasn't paying enough attention to the hierarchy of information, letter spacing, kerning, leading, composition, scale, contrast, rhythm, color scheme, negative space, photo selection, or photo color correction. There are so many more important aspects of design than font choice. I could design with nothing more than Helvetica and still create compelling design.
My suggestion... get yourself a handful of workhorse typefaces, and work on those other aspects of design. It will do far more for your work than the latest font ever could.

Well yea you're on a Mac forum so you're going to get a lot of Mac replies... which IMO is all you need ;)
But seriously... if you want extreme portability a MBA will do great... the 13 inch ones are slim and have amazing battery life; if you're willing to get the 1.4/1.6ghz dual core instead of a 2.x one (dual), then you should be set. They all have the glass trackpad which is great as well.
Like I posted before though, I would suggest a MBP. They are still very portable and small in size compared to other laptops and have a performance (and build) increase compared to the regular, polycarbonate Macs.
What are you planning on doing with your computer? Where are you taking it? These things would help us out a lot :)

Which do you prefer phpbb or vbulletin?
I would like your input. I am starting a forum for a client and it will probably not have very heavy traffic, but he wants it to be SEO. I know vbulletin is more SEO than phpbb. I could mod phpbb to be more search engine friendly but modding phpbb makes upgrading harder.
Is it worth it to just start with vBulletin?

I salvaged 4 of the 1st generation iMacs from a storage closet. Unfortunately the RAM is so abysmal that I can't begin to install OS X.
I can't find OS 9.x install discs for a reasonable price. They're all a fortune.
If anyone can help me acquire, borrow, copy, torrent, whatever a version of this OS we (my students and I) would appreciate it.
Of course, you're asking, "What the heck will students do with these relics?" We have kids with multiple disabilities. We're running some VERY basic software, games, etc. So these iMacs will provide basic functionality needed.

Sure, so basically after you've done step 6, your ipod or iphone should have a black screen. This is because it is in iREB's special dfu mode. After that, you must put it into dfu mode again manually. Hold both the power and home button at the same time untill you hear a usb sound from your computer. When that sound comes let go of the power button and keep holding the home button and wait for the second usb sound. Now your done step 8.
