Talked to an io at neb sc.within 5 sec of me starting to talk the ffice interuppted and she apologosed for doing that and said because of huge vol of appli there is a delay in the receipt notice.i SAID I AM july 2 nd filer and she said it might be in the first week of aug..(i had said the same thing in my earlier post too after i spoke toa diff officer)..She asked to keep checking the check clearnace.

If no one (or practically no one) from July 2nd has got their receipt notice, then whats the point of calling them everyday. Calling them will NOT get your receipts sooner. These kind of behaviors lead to bad customer service. Misuse it and then dont complain if USCIS disallows this service where we can call and talk to someone. Just get your act together and act maturely.

1. His salary CAN be raised.
i don't claim to know the answer here.
2. His wife CAN work, as article mentions that he applied for GC in 2004
If he is EB3 india, that may have been true till very recently
3. I never heard about 1 million - I guess we were talking about 140000 unused visas right? Where this 1 million came from?

4. If the company is bought - one doesn't generally reapply for GC.

Taking a plunge now on EAD is like drowning yourself. prices have not yet come down and will come down by 15-20 % over 5 years. there is talk about recession , job losses and more foreclosures. if you dont need the space ...DONT BUY. most of us dont need more space unless we have 2-3 grown kids who need their own rooms. renting is not same as throwing away money as you get a place to live. how does buying a home give you security ..it is more of a hassle if you are on EAD or H-1 and you need mobility after a job is lost. my friend who has good worldly experience rightly said ..buying a house now is like worrying about one more thing in life.
If buying a house had been the smart option, I would have bought it already.

BTW, independent analysts predict that housing prices will fall by 20% in real terms in next 10 years.
All I am stating is that this issue can be a good talking point for the Immigration Lobby, especially as the housing market continues its slide down:)

Recently a friend of mine visited us in Houston and the purpose of his visit was that he surrendered his passports after getting his American Citizenship and waiting for the surrender certificate. He has been waiting for 2 months and still no luck. I am wondering why processing a surrender certificate takes such a long time?
I think that there is no proper process or people are not implementing it properly.
There is no point in fuming over these issues. These have to be resolved and I think that if there are enough people having issues and deal with it, we must do something about it.
As the first step, it would be a great idea to write a list of issues that we all face collectively. The issue must be genuine and real without looking at the emotional angle or with attitude. Do we want to do something to fix these issues?

Senior (PD's from 2001-03) EB3-I sufferers, you'll surely get what you deserve by the middle of 2009. Having said that, if you think its in your best interest to get a better job under EB2, go for it and port your PD. Nothing can stop you.
If someone writes a letter to USCIS to stop EB3 porting, you can counter it by writing another letter explaining why you are porting in the first place and you have the right and the freedom to get better jobs and qualify for higher categories.

I am sorry to hear that USCIS has messed up your FP appointment.
When (what date) did you get a notice from NSC saying that your I-485 is now transferred into NSC and now pending from processing?
I never received a transfer notice from NSC, however my wife received a transfer notice long back (some time in Sep')

The law seems to have changes due to AC21, I don't think we can get any actual data of any one who got his GC after AC21 and has already converted to citizenship.
It would be really great if IV can contact USCIS and get an official guideline on this topic.

I know many people working here in my city who are from TCS. TCS blatantly breaks rules and sends these people on L1 visas while paying them an Indian salary and a minimal per diem for their time in the U.S. They don't even get enough for renting a car and I see many of these poor guys walking from their apartment blocks to the office. It's good exercise (for one's physical health) but the intent of the company is exploitation and nothing else :mad:
In addition, I notice that many of these recruits are here not for long term jobs but for gaining enough knowledge so that those jobs can be outsourced back to the home country. That has started to make many of my American colleagues really mad. But it's the fault of the company, not these poor guys who don't have seem to have a clue what a bad deal it is until they arrive here.
Sad to say, Wipro, Infosys and the rest in their flock are no better.

We have been living in a county which has implemented 287g for some time. And I believe all legal residents in my county feel safer because of its implementation. Sure, there is a chance that 287g can be misused by the police. But tell me one law which can not be misused by police.
The thing is that more counties are signing on to 287g. St. Mary's County Joins Controversial Federal Immigration Initiative - Southern Maryland Headline News (http://somd.com/news/headlines/2010/11667.shtml).
I went thru the proposal in Arizona and could not find even one point which might be bad for us. EB2 India will move very fast till 01 JAN 06 as because based on June 2007 bulletin, just before the july fiasco,( http://travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/bulletin/bulletin_3236.html ) the PD for China is 01 JAN 06. That means in EB2 Category except India and China every other country is current. So till India reaches 01 JAN 06 PD in EB2, all the spill overs will be moved to EB2 India. By the time India EB2 reaches 01 JAN 06, China PD in EB2 will move further from 01 JAN 06 by using its 7% quota. So Inidia PD for EB2 again moves fast till that changed China PD using the spill overs. After that India and China will share the spill overs based on the PD priority. All this happens if and only if the USCIS works effectively and uses all the available visa numbers for the present fiscal year. My prediction for EB2 India PD is it touch 2005 /even cross few months in 2005 by the end of this year if USCIS works effectively.
