You can surely do so, and that too at your own convenience, that is until you get the project with your second employer you need not bother with leaving the first job. H1 Visa does not come in effect until you move to other employer's payroll.
What I write.. I know for a fact, you may still want to check for any latest changes with attorney or some one in legal world.

Keep in mind two things. Many, quite possibly most of the July VB fiasco filed 485s have not been processed yet, Eb2 or EB3 India. There have been more recently (in the past couple of months) but still not most. A good number of those filers had earlier PDs.
The quarterly statutory quota for EB2 I or C is so puny (something like 700 visas) that any movement would almost entirely be dependent on the Eb1 and EB2ROW overflow. That is why I feel, once this next two months pass, we will see dates back in 2004 for EB2. Maybe not quite back in April, but sometime in the middle to later 2004. However we could see PDs move at a healthy clip for EB2 I and C next year. It will take most of next years overflow to clear up the EB2 backlog in my view.
They have no reason to pull the dates back. Most 2004, 2005, part 2006 people got to apply during the july07 fiasco. In the past, they have pulled the dates back if new applications flooded in when they pushed the dates up.
USCIS will process in the following order now

2. While waiting for RFE, process the next based on PD
3. IF the RFE response window is outside of this fiscal, they will re-allocate the visa number to another approvable case.

Just because you have 1485 filed much before your PD and have the better half of the situation, does not allow you to be an advocator on behalf of IV.
The question was means for IV and PAPPU, and to galvanize this organization to do something big, than take things for granted.

After long wait of 4.7 years ( i know it may not sound too long as some of the others), I finally got the card production ordered email yesterday. I was mostly a silent reader on IV but have contributed to IV few times since I started visiting since last year. I wish good luck for everybody waiting out there.

Answer: A person who fails to maintain status for over 180 days may have a problem obtaining the approval of the I-485, which allows a maximum of 180 days for one to be out of status under Section 245(k) of the INA, unless the person is covered under 245(i) of the INA. Sometimes, though, the fault of the employer in not paying the salary while the person is considered an employee may not pose a problem but at other times it may pose a problem. Your lawyers are not adding the employment letter because they are working in the ineterst of your HR department and not in your interest. Your HR thinks that after 180 days you will leave the job. So in order to retain you, they are filing incomplete application to invoke an RFE or rejection and keep things iin their control. Hope you are smart enough to see the games people are playing with your greencard application.

I dont see any problem if we align with like minded orgs. If we allow today Murthy to take credit, then we are mis-directing our fellow immigrants who would be comng down the years here. They all believe Murthy is for immigrants and fall in their trap.

You have described the problem very well. I have tried every way to get name check done. I have gone for FP four times (three times after 15 months expiration as they screwed up twice) but still no end in sight. For FP, each time I have to travel to a city that is couple of hours away. Both, my spouse and I have to take a day off from work. So it usually costs us couple of hundred dollars just to get each FP done. We have contacted both the Senators of the state and my congressman. We have made some good contacts with the staff of the congressman and this is helping with this effort. They have all communicated that it is in name check and they cannot do anything. We have tried every suggestion that is posted on the web but nothing seem to work. So we completely understand and go through the same frustration and relate to everything that you and willgetgc2005 wam4wam & stirGC maybe going through.

c'mon guys...instead of just hoping lets participat ein IV campaigns...it makes no sense that EB2 wud move a lot...just think abt it...there are just too many of...now that everyone jumped from EB3 to EB2...it would have been wise to continue with ur EB3 application.
We need to get the a comprehensive fix to our problems..
Remember the way USCIS moves dates is based on how many applications they think they can process based on their resources..its not based on utilizing the country quotas for a particular year...hence the reason for loosing so many Immigrant VISAS every year..lets try to fix that...rather than hoping dates wud magically move.
Even if they move, I bet 90% of ppl who become current wud not get their GC in that particular month, and then the dates wud retrogress back to 1955 or "U" again.....
Concentrate on the big picture and IV drive to get Admin fixes...thats teh only real solution.
We need to get the a comprehensive fix to our problems..

Sorry to hear that..May be due to processing times are hanging at April,2007 i guess you may have to wait until your 485 RD falls into that or may be not...because some people are getting approvals irrespective of the processing dates not match with their 485 RD (received date)

I had estimated that Eb2India pending applications (with PD earlier than or equal to Dec31, 2003) are probably about 4,900. This is almost 1.75 years worth of EB2India quota. If there is no spillover, then someone with Dec31, 2003 PD would have to wait at least till mid FY10 to get their GC. However, if there is spillover (especially from EB1 ROW considering that EB1India may not have much left). It will all depend on how much of this spillover will go to Eb2China and how much to EB2 India.
