Dear friends,
I am appalled and disgusted by the mudslinging going on between ROW and India-born applicants. If any of you remember your history lessons from high school, the English used this exact policy of "Divide and Rule" to keep control over their colonies.
For example, in India, they would go into Moslem dominated cities, discriminate against them for jobs, and put Hindus in more prestigious positions, and vice-versa. They did this after the first war for independence in 1857 where Hindus, Moslems, rich and poor fought to overthrow the British occupation.
The very same policy is used by the U.S. government to control their population:
1) Per country quotas in EB immigration cause infighting
2) Infighting causes immigrant activists like IV to lose focus and weaken the agenda
3) Infighting results in racism between ROW, India, and China, which causes Americans to watch the circus, shake their heads and lobby for more immigration control
4) Poor regulation in the H1B program cause Americans to lose their jobs and blame the Indians and Chinese
...and the elite sit back, sip their martinis, and watch the fun.
So you have two choices before you:
1) Keep fighting, achieve none of the 3 main IV objectives, and continue your bonded slavery or
2) Unite as one to achieve all 3 objectives, and throw off your shackles

You are constantly and unjustly attacked - You are attacked by anti-immigrants who not only spread outrageously false rumors such as "High-skilled immigrants don't pay taxes" or "High-skilled immigrants lower wages" but also dismiss your contributions to the U.S. economy like patents, opening world-leading companies, etc etc by not acknowledging them. Lou Dobbs is a good example in the media, but anti-immigrants (which are not that many in numbers) make their presence felt everywhere.

hhmmm.....architecture would be cool. But I think that would focus to much on the rendering than the modelling. I really would like to do a character contest. SOmething robotic that leaves the modeller to make it as detailed or as not detailed. But it is up to you. I need to add more 3d pieces to my folio, so I am really going to do it the this time lol. Since the time frame will be so long. We should try to have intermediate deadlines or WIP posts to keep interest in the contest.

How about sending back all H1Bs ? If there is no cheap labor around , the salaries for all others (Citizens and GC holders) go up. I so want to see 250 an hour rates.

If you want a good discussion on a topic stop generalizing things and do not use rants like racist engineers etc. When you make an assumption please be clear about. You have assumed most people work for consulting companies and most people are frustrated with it. Not so. I don't work for them and I am not frustrated with them. My only concern with them is they are exploiting the system to their advantage and at my cost. This has two fold affect not only the take cut from your salary but also put a bad name to H1B visa program in general. Whoever wrote the bill or whatever are the consequences there is definitely some good things in that bill. Let me list out how some provisions are good:
1. If you are employable in US and you have the skills you will get the job with or without these middlemen. They come into picture only because they can start a corporation and then start the exploitation game. If a bill is taking these guys out what's wrong with it ? This will allow genuine corporations to hire the right candidates.
2. Putting 30 days of ad. to hire US citizens first ? What's wrong with it ? If their skills are really outdated and you are the best and the brightest you will get the job.
If you need more evidence of why H1B program needs reform look no further than H1B cap used up on first day. This has put good undue hard ship for good candidates while Infosys/Wipro etc will once again take the lion's share of H1B numbers. Why do you want them to win at your cost ? Stop calling people affected by this mess as "Racist Engineers". Try to put yourself in their shoes and some of these practices are affecting both the H1B visa holders (with indentured servitude) and citizens with wage depression. There is no point in arguing with each other just to see this bill in a manner to exclude each one of us. EAD is work authorization even when it is not a visa. The intent of the bill will matter. The clear intent is to not allow hiring of non-citizens by companies engaged in mass layoff, which could include EADs. What's the point of arguing if someone gets an RFE for employment letter? It's not relevant.
What should/can we all do to prevent this from passing? What does IV core want us to do?

It doesn't say that anywhere in the link. The 485 filing instructions clearly state what the initial evidence is.
There is no doubt the employer letter is required.
The only question is:
1) is it safer to wait for RN and then submit this letter as evidence quoting the A# assigned, OR
2) is it a better idea to submit a new I-485 rightaway along with the letter, OR
3) should such people just wait hoping they will receive an RFE (I don't like this one at all) whenever the case is opened?

New members and old non contributing members who were questioning why we need fund if we not going for law-suit, I wish now they will understand with the recent development that why we need money.. It's true that Europe can be a tough place, as can Canada or the U.S. to a newcomer. What is true about Europe is that it is a socialist place, salaries are lower, taxes are higher, racism is stronger, houses are smaller, yet you are also surrounded by beautiful places and there is a lot to do and see. It depends what type of person you are. Some Europeans hate Europe themselves and want to come to the U.S. as much or more than you did when you immigrated here. I'd say Europe is a good Plan B if all else fails here in America for you, and then you can always go back to India or China if you didn't like Europe.
Hopefully we don't need to get sucked in by the Reverse Brain Drain and we can help Congress help us, by changing the law, and retaining the high-skilled legal immigrants like us who are suffering and stuck in backlogs, and which is the only fair thing to do!

If there were not per country limits, Indians would consume all those EB visas visas leaving no chance to the applicants from other countries to immigrate to the US legally.

This is just to verify if the guys is in database for any criminal activity. ofcourse they will not give an illegal guy a GC if they have his record in database for criminal activity in US. This is just a formal requirement to keep illegal law brokers out because there are thousands illegals who came here from southern border and have committed crimes. There are some even in the America's Top 10 Wanted list. My uncles(came illegally here) went through all criminal checks by FBI for breaking any law,when Reagan gave amnesty for >5 years. Same criminal checks were done on illegals when Clinton helped legalalization of illegals. Fingerprints, etc are just for other criminal history check not to check if the person crossed the border illegally, ofcouse he did and broke the law: that's the whole point for him being illegal.

1. Build a huge prison and put all of them in there and feed them rest of their life.
OR
2. Arrest all of them and deport them their home country
IF 1 or 2 is not possible, better give them green card as long as they have not committed any crime and legalize them so no one takes advantage of them...we have had one round of slavery in this country and its consequence is still felt, lets not have another round of slavery with illegals.

Is it possible they are trying to adjudicate my 485. I am EB2 India PD: JAN 2006.
This could be a blessing for you.As your 485 file is now open depending upon your reply if IO is convinced he could easily mail out the GC to you as your dates would be current by the time he looks into your reply.Consult an attorney to frame a correct reply.
