if you have wired 10k to NRE account, you can get back 10k back and you can easily get clearance from RBI for the amount that you had deposited.
If you need to bring more than what you had transferred then again RBI has set a cap of about 100k per year per person.

Someone has obtained the number of pending 485 cases working with a Senator. Those are the kinds of information that we should try to obtain and then make a educated estimate. When that estimate is alarming , initiate some actions.

And most important thing is it's timing -- Can we believe that these orders to make visa bulletin come from none less than some big political clout to suppress / divide the cry of legal immigrants?
This confirms unless we get major reform for addressing backlog, all this idea of making 485 current is eyewash and nothing but trap for exorting money out of legal immigrants every year to pay for USCIS funding.

however, is it possible to have a couple of more important/relevant threads always on the top (maybe top 3-5 slots reserved), so that these important threads (like LIVE updates, Media drive, Contribution to IV) don't get lost (more often in some trivia being discussed).
also, as new members are logging to this group, they should be gently reminded that free lunch often upsets the stomach, so even a small/any contribution would help them feel better ;)

The whole Insurance investment depends on the person�s needs and investment capability. If you are market savvy you would take a term policy for the insurance and invest the difference between the term life policy and whole life policy premium and get a better return when compared to a whole life that on average has given a return of 8-12%pa.

Sorry to hear that your 485 is denied....
My question to all the gurus here...I wonder what happens to EAD and AP after you appeal 485 denial?
I know that if your 485 gets denied then EAD and AP are void but lets say OP files 485 MTR(motion to reopen), does he have to reapply for EAD and AP or does that get reinstated based on the reciept he gets on 485 MTR?
Should the person stop working till he gets 485 MTR receipt or till he reapplies for new EAD and gets the approval?
Just curoius to know as these days denials seems to be the trend at USCIS and it would be helpful for all those who rely on EAD only and not sure what to do when there is a 485 denials for what ever reason.

You do NOT have to apply for another EAD. You're safe to go back to work as soon as you receive your MTR receipt. I am sure most people work even while they're waiting for the MTR to be received by uscis though but shhh. I have never heard of a case where the uscis wanted to make sure the person didn't work while they were waiting for their MTR receipt to be sent out. Can you imagine them doing that to someone after their own officer denied the case in error resulting in an individual having to pay 500 bucks to reopen the case? Slap after slap in the face.

msgs like this help establish the notion that this is an indian website dedicated to indian immigration issues. I didnt see any post wishing happy Eid/ Eid Mubarak nor did I notice last year that anyone wished a Merry Christmas/ Happy Holidays, nor do we wish our Chinese friends a Happy Chinese New Year.
Dude - my perspective changed after I started living in New York City. Last week we attended a diwali event and it was just not Indians there but all nationalities were present there and everyone were greeting diwali wishes.
I lived in Bombay for 10 years and we celebrated every festival like Durga Puja, Holi, Christmas, we used to have Ramadan fast break lunches and everything.
Living in a cosmopolitan society, one must celebrate and respect every culture and their festivals. Thats the only way to achieve unity.

You can request a copy of I-140 approval from USCIS using G-639 form (download from www.uscis.gov).
In G-639 form, Fill out the following information
I) Type of request
-> Freedom of information Act (FOIA)
2) Requester Information
--> Your Communication address
3) Consent to release information
--> Please choose "A portion of my records" box
4) Information needed to search for record
--> Please specify only "ETA 9089" for PERM CASEs or ETA 750 PART A & B. ( I have asked for ETA 9089,)
--> You can also ask for I-140 approval copy(Since i have approval letter i didn't ask.)
*Note: If you specify portion of record in application, then it will be processed in Track one otherwise it is going to be in complex track(Track Two).
