I think I have joined IV in last 3 years or so...
Donated money once & have called congressmen & senators many times ...
Could someone please tell me -
What has been achieved by IV till date? I know we all meet elected reps, officials in washington dc ..... but I am interested in end result like not wasting visa numbers , implementing spillover & along these lines.
I have asked few friends to join IV but then if they ask me for IV accomplishments - i can't count any....
If IV has accomplished its objectives, then there is no need for any of us to join. But anyway, the following might be listed...hope this helps.

amitjoey, Thanks. I have sent a request to my senator yesterday and also mailed them all the copies of the documents. Just hoping that will also help. I was told that my file is already assigned to an IO and you will soon hear from USCIS. "Soon" in USCIS dictionary seems to be 30 to 45 days and thats very scary s that means it will about 130 days. I am just hoping they will approve soon. After approving it seems they are taking additonal 30 days to print the card.

Leave on good terms with your current employer. If that's not possible and you have a good reason to believe that they'll withdraw I-140, conduct a pre-emptive strike and file AC21 papers with the USCIS (a new employment offer listing job title, duties, salary). That will eliminate or at least minimize a headache associated with I-140 withdrawal. Employer is free to withdraw I-140 at any time and the USCIS cannot prohibit it. However, even if I-140 is withdrawn, your I-485 remains valid if you have a new employment offer. So no worries, just plan for it and act according to your gut feeling :)

hi people, i read all your comments about how the IV community feels about the DREAM Act, and how you guys dont know if it will benefit the children of legal immigrants that fall into a similar situation. Well i got good news for you people, i am a staff at Massachusetts Immigrant refugee advocate coalition and we had a talk with couple of staff from senators Hagel, and senator Lugar to confirm us which version of DREAM were they doing to introduce this week which most likely could be today or tomorrow. both staff members were positive that the version that will be introduce as an amendment to the defense bill will be word by word identical to S. 774 that was introduce early this spring. what this actually means is that this version of DREAM does not discriminate legal from illegal...... just wanted to clear all that out for you guys..... thanks

I asked the officer if its the new requirement and she replied Yes, its started recently. If you are in H1 or H4 visa, you need to prove that you are still in job and getting paid. One more nail in the coffin.

Fraud is usually about lie. If you hide a material fact from USCIS, that is a lie by ommision; and becomes a fraud if it was done intentionally. Changing employment while on EB GC application is a material fact and would matter much when USCIS decides on your case.
Usually, this kind of ommision is found out when the individual applies for another immigration benefit or for Naturalization.

In fact, my point was that unfairness should be dealt with on all possible fronts. If the system works properly, nobody will need to do anything that is even remotely unfair.
I have a strong gut feeling that 2009 would be a good year for EB3. They will start approving more cases I think.
I certainly hope for the best this year. My PD is currently current, but I am still helpless. Can't file a service request nor know any kind of status (unless on pure luck I run into a good natured IO over phone or infopass). Just have to pray that they find and get to my application while dates are still current.

I was in same situation briefly ( a month or two of PD being current but Processing dates stuck at July 2, 2007 at NSC) early this year and had to sit back and painfully watch the PD for EB3-I becoming 'U' again. I am more afraid of the 'unavailability' than retrogression now!! With retrogression you can atleast hope it might become current in the next month or one after that. But with 'U' , you just have to wait until Oct next year !!!
The moment they advance the PD for EB3 I and my application still remains untouched , I am gonna try to take that info , take an Info Pass and ask the IO, if they had advanced the PDs, it means they exhausted every application that could be approved and wanted to find more....so what ever has happened to my case !! I have my Automobile and Home insurance through Amica. But they declined to give me a Life Insurance Quote because i am not a citizen or a GC holder. They are ready to insure the cars I drive and the house i live in, but not me.
I am not too happy with this scenario and i have sent an email to them asking reasons on why they cannot accept my life insurance. After all i will be paying them right. If i dont get a valid response from them i will be going to somebody who is not impartial to Resident Aliens (PPL on Visas)
