Here's your answer in the bulletin
EMPLOYMENT: Demand for numbers in the Employment Third Other Workers category, as well as the China and India Employment Second preference categories, has been escalating. No movement in those cut-off dates will be possible until the current level of demand subsides.
I hope it doesn't retrogress in future.
I still don't understand why is EB-2 not moving forward especially that EB-1 is current.

there is only one action item right now and it is on the forum.
the update and action needed prior to this was handled by state chapters, however everyone is now up to date with what needs to be done.
state chapters are voluntary but very effective in initiating grassroots approaches to our problems, they have also proved very effective with focussed actions recently. a state chapter is simply a local community that networks and offers support. so it really has many other advantages than just a question of updates.
anyway there is no fresh update currently.
I learned that the full committee meeting was scheduled for June 23rd (yesterday). Was it dropped or rescheduled?? Can you give that piece of information?

As I have already accepted that my decision of choosing CP was not right during the time of recession. When dates became current, I thought mine will be current in a month or so and CP is a faster process to get green card as 485 filers some time stuck in name chack and all ( as I know couple of friends). So that was the only reason I filed Cp instead of 485.

I think calling your university presidents and asking them to show their support for these bills would also be a very good idea.
This bill will encourage pursuit of higher education in US by foreign students in a significant way.
Right now for all bills that Zoe proposed there are max 19 co sponser for this last bill. DID you check for STRIVE ACT 2007 which had 78 co-sponsers still could not make it to floor.
We need to call these lawmakers and educated them on these bills.
Chances are less but our investment is not that big. Few minutes in a day to call or write.

Brother, your idea is good but practically it is very difficult.
Do you see a donate progress bar at the top, it took an entire month and lot of pushing to get 10,000 US$ in donation.
People are not willing to donate, many have questions about credibility and what work is being done, some have lost entire hope and hence not willing to donate.
It is like chicken and egg, we are asking people to donate to see change, some are saying change is not there and donation does not make a difference.
If it is so difficult to collect 10,000 US$ a month how can your plan collect 5 million ?
If someone is going to ask you the following questions what are your answers,
1) If i donate 50$ what is the feedback (in terms of info, progress) that i will get?
2) What will you do if the administration thanks us and takes the donation and gives it off to a non-profit education organization. (giving donation does not mean that they will do something for us). Then what do we do.
Instead can we not use that money to lobby for our goals.

I have a question....Green card is for future employment. In that case, once your I-485 got approved ,you need to go and work for your original employer who sponsered your green card. Is that right? Is that the same case if someone uses AC21?

I am on a non immigrant visa and am fairly close to getting my green card through EB-1 under current system - so am basically screwed if the new law passes. I have sent my share of web faxes and have made my wife/ friends at work do the same. I view green card as a logistical convenience and not a do or die thing. If GC does not work out and my work visa upper limit expires - my company would move me elsewhere (or I can get another job somewhere else)....I dont consider myself beholden to any country except India (my country of birth) and would happily move around till I can afford to settle down comfortably in India
However, if I think rationally without being condescending, here is my take:
Legislators in a democratic country are answerable to the people who vote (that excludes all of us). If the Indian MPs start listening to the thousands of neighboring country (no offence intended - just illustration of a point) immigrants while making up their mind on any legislation - I would be damn pissed off - regardless of whether they pay taxes or not.
When we all came to US on work visas - US Govt did not make any promises about green card nor did they extend an express invitation to most of us (there may be some exceptional scientists/ educators etc here and I beg their apology)......the contract was between us and sponsoring employers..not with the US Govt...US Govt may choose to legislate the way they deem fit without asking us or listening to us- regardless of what 1 million folks have to say
The opposition to the new law from skilled, legal non-immigrants is not united....nor are the demands uniform....a divided front can never be a strong front.
No matter what IV or any other organization does (not to take anything away from the great work being done here)......the senators/ congressmen would listen only to those who have voting rights....I dont think anything is being done here to change public opinion of the common US citizen.....and I am not even sure how to do that....common US citizens think that Indians (and other work visa holders) are here to take away the nice white collar jobs which they took for granted.......
Senators/ congressment do not (and they should not in a real democracy) have any opinion - they are supposed to mirror the opinion of the voting majority...the reason they care about the illegal immigrants is because the ethnic segment from which an overwhelming number of illegals come from - their legal US citizen brethren have put their electoral weight behind this.....since many families are like 50% legal and 50% illegal......
with all due respect to you sir, Can you please explain us what to do? If someone want to pack bags and leave they can always do that and my humble advice to those people is dont waste your time on these forums.

Though I want to feel sorry for you I cannot. Between all the things you have written I was trying to find one small indication to know that you are sorry for what you have done. I did not find one. You are arrogant enough to blame the immigration laws for not permiting you to come to the US, but never really looked into your own flaws for flouting drug laws.
Besides, this is a forum for legal employment based immigrants. You may hardly find any resource here that will help you with what you want!
My husband and son are being discriminated against for having an Alien wife and mother.
If an Alien deported with drug-related offences of more than 30 grams of Marijuana, like me, solicits a Non-Immigrant Visa to visit in the U.S. at the same time my husband or son solicit an Immigrant Visa for me to remain in the U.S. with them, the Alien will be granted her Non-Immigrant Visa and my husband’s or my son’s request will never be acknowledged.
This is our story: Everything we ever learned from the U.S. about truth and justice is suddenly being deprived of any meaning by the U.S. itself. The hardest part for us is believing that everything we’ve based our lives on – the American way, has no merit.
I was deported from the United States of America on February 18, 2005. I lived there nearly 30 years since I was 20 months old, when my mother crossed the Rio Grande into the country with me illegally. I was given an opportunity to become legal under the NACARA law but was to afraid of being deported like Maricela Soza was under the same law and didn’t go through with the entire process. I have both a husband and a son who are U.S. citizens but I am permanently prohibited by Immigration law from immigrating to the United States, while at the same time I am allowed to visit. Due to my drug-related offence of more than 30 grams of Marijuana. It’s Immigration law’s contradicting policies which I find disturbing.
U.S. Immigration is concerned with their citizens’ welfare but it is denying my husband’s and my son’s requests to have me back by their side for good. Although Immigration law will value my wish to receive admission into the United States. Needless to say I prefer returning, immigrating and remaining in the country by my family’s side. That’s not taking into account the fact that I am still homesick and continue experiencing culture shock in Nicaragua. What the Department of Homeland Security is doing to my family and I is cruel, inhumane and unpatriotic. No free country’s government has any business deciding how families should be formed or whose personal choice is agreeable or not. Like that of my son’s and husband’s choice to overlook my shortcomings and begin our lives over together again.
The 212(d)(3) Waiver allows a visitor’s visa into the U.S. to be issued to an Alien like me if I show evidence of rehabilitation such as becoming a practicing professional with a U.S. job offer. Sometimes with lone proof of a bank savings account, school registration and satisfactory travel record. On the other hand there isn’t one waiver available for United States Citizens who wish to rebuild their lives with an Alien deported for any drug-related offence of more than 30 grams of Marijuana. Not only are my son’s and my husband’s needs being ignored but my needs are being placed before their own. An act I dare name TREASON.
How much more is the United States citizens’ welfare secured if an Alien with an undesirable drug history enters the United States merely to visit and not to immigrate? Shouldn’t all United States citizens’ needs and rights within and from their country – such as my husband’s and my son’s, come before any Alien’s need or right to receive admission into the U.S., including my own? Also, shouldn’t Family-Based Immigration take first place over “Alien travel” for any reason?
I regret to say it’s these types of injustices with devastating consequences to the recipient’s and his/her immediate relatives’ personal lives remaining raveled, much more unacknowledged that play a large role in the cause for conflict concerning disloyalty toward the U.S. and unpopularity of the U.S. among U.S. citizens and foreign nationals inside and outside of the United States. I trust that once this oversight is brought to DHS’s attention they will not knowingly continue punishing my husband and my son for loving me, an Alien who once stumbled while attempting to survive in the U.S..
I’m afraid to imagine how many individuals involved in cases like my family’s and mine go on thinking that the U.S. is a bad country for having the audacity to pass judgment on them. I’ve had to believe there’s a glitch somewhere in immigration law caused by simple human error. I can’t accept that the U.S. I grew to know as a loving, Christian country with caring values is intentionally causing my loved ones and I grief. It goes without saying that as much as the United States has a duty to protect its citizens it also has a duty to be equally diplomatic toward foreigners and not continue persecuting the one or the other long after any condemning sentence has been exacted and executed. I know the United States of America will do right by my son, my husband, me, and the rest of its citizens and foreign nationals in our predicament.
We want the 212(d)(3) Non-Immigrant Visas Waiver made into an Immigrant Visas Waiver for Immediate Relatives of U.S. Citizens to make sure United States citizens receive competent protection from the Department of Homeland Security and adequate protection from the United States of America.
My husband and son believe a Waiver should be available to me and I believe their Freedom Of Belief civil liberty is being violated because their belief is being discriminated against. My needs are being placed before their own. I am not able to immigrate to the U.S. because immigration law doesn’t allow me a Waiver enabling my husband or son to claim me successfully. If I had a Waiver available to me they wouldn’t have to be at this crossroads making their case public in the courts, therefore their Right To Privacy is also being violated as a result of their belief being discriminated against. I couldn’t live with myself if I don’t speak out, they’re attempting to do the same for me. We don’t want to cause any problems, we just want to move on with our lives.

Even if PD is not current, I believe you can convert CP to AOS. Check Murthy website or talk to them.
If this cannot happen for you then you should look for a change towards this provision.
But EAD & AP fro CP is not going to fly administratively. As others have stated it is contradictory.
I agree with you, thanks for your post.

.. and how exactly do you know that I didn't participate? did you just look in to your crystal ball and it magically gave you a list of people who didn't call their lawmaker? I may not have posted any update in that thread but I did call my 2 senators.
If you think that I have to give you a daily update in writing on what I am doing everyday to support IV, you are up for a surprise because that isn't happening. Before you criticize others, at least think.
By the way, you don't own IV or this forum so please don't act like everyone needs your permission before posting anything on this forum.
All I am saying is that if there is a good reason to close a thread, just say so. Just give a one liner explanation and everyone is happy but I am not sure if that's too difficult for you understand.
You did not even take part in the call the lawmakers drive. Likewise others complaining on this thread also do not have a single post in calling the lawmakers thread. You can happily do your predctions on your own websites, but on this websites you should allow people to seriously do focussed IV work.

Kinkos is horrible!!! I went there this morning and had to wait 40 minutes for my photos and when they came back they had a greenish tint and the colors were all washed out. They looked like a two year old photoshoped them :D Clearly they would have been rejected by immigration so I asked for my money back.
I then went to Sears and they did a great job. They have professional studio equipment and all it took was 5 minutes and I had all my copies looking great like they're supposed to.
So... Sears, highly recommended. They charged me $61 for two sets of 8 photos for me and my wife which is the same price as Kinkos or CVS & Walgreens, less the horrible amateurish quality.

Understand that, but do you really think (s)he is worried about that at this moment any more than his next board meeting with the board members and CEO. Not increasing H1B quota itself and allowing lottery for highly skilled program, go figure sends some signal that they do not care if you graduate from MIT or from an unknown university in tahiti. How do you really test highly skilled??? by lottery?? dah!!!
From a senator or CIO level of view if you can get it cheap why not. It comes down to Toyota carolla or Mercedes CLS550 when you are only concerned about getting from point A to point B, enjoying the ride is not in question here.

As was said somewhere else on this forum, "lets take care of the foreigners first and then take care of the dying!" Sounds - what's the word - logical!
lets stop this rhetoric on repubs, what about bobby jindal, marco rubio & nick haley and plz don't give explanations to distort the reality, many in the republicans sincerely support legal immigration, tell me few good things dems did to legal immigrants, aint regan the one who gave amnesty to illegals in 80s, aint bush the one who tried more than once to pass CIR, who opposed h1b fee increase recently?
